Default Tuning praises/problems

Of the people that have bought a tuner for their 5.0, what is your opinion? Any problems? Was there a big difference in the way the truck ran before and after? I'm leaning really hard towards 5star Tuning, does anyone else have a recommendation?

I know its not a 5.0, but I bought the SCTX3 from 5Star and love it on my 5.4. Going back to stock is just down right disrespectful after driving it with the tune.

I have 3 tunes, 85performance, 87 performance, and 87 towing.

The first two are so much stronger and smoother compared to stock. Hopefully this helps, and someone with a 5.0 will chime in for ya.

Ordered a Superchips 1865 and it was a lot better over the factory tune ... jjust not aggressive enough for my own likes. Bought the SCT X3 with the 5-Star tune and sold the Superchips tuner after I tried the 5-Star tune ... hands-down more aggressive and totally satisifed now.

Thanks for the input. I pulled the trigger a few minutes ago. Now I sit by the front door and wait.

For the people with the 5-star tune... which one do you use? Is there much difference between 87 performance, and 91 performance?

I'm located in Canada, so I am thinking of just buying a blank SCT locally, and then buying the email tunes from Mike, and possible trying some tunes from other vendors.

Is the SCT tuner with a custom tune from 5 star something that would void my warranty? My sales person said it wouldn't but i'd like to get that in writing before i pull the trigger and install it.

When you install(download) it, the first thing it does is copy your stock parameters and stores it, so you can put it back to stock for any warranty or tsb issues. My salesman said it won't void the warranty, but they might flash it to install updates, so just be sure to put the stock tune back in before going to dealer.

Read up on the Magnuson-Moss Act for warranty issues.

I got an Edge Evolution CS for my 5.4L from AutoAnything.com and it definitely made a great improvement for everyday driving. I've only tried Level 1 and 2. I might get a custom tune from PHP this summer but even with stock tunes, it's so much better than stock.
