Default Tuner

I got a bully dog tuner for my 2011 F150 5.0L. Never took it out of the box yet should I put a cold air intake on and is my stock exhaust enough or should I upgrade it before I use the tuner? Any info is great thx.

Really, 3rd post? Did you do a search?

Not the best tuner.

Cold air intake does nothing on our trucks.

Your exhaust is fine.

Cold air intake doesn't do anything without a tuner. It may add a few horse but not much by itself.

As stated about exhaust is fine stock unless your pushing more air through the engine via forced induction. Tuner is the best thing you can do to the truck right now.

even with a tuner your CAI does nothing. you can put a drop in K&N if you want a lighter weight filter. CAI would give you a nice rumble but that's it.

As stated above, our intakes are good for around 500HP.

And as stated good for noise.

Factory is already a CAI, majority of the aftermarket CAI's are actually sucking in warmer air than the factory one.

As with most cars/trucks CAI is pure ear candy. I learned that lesson a few times to many.

And unfortunately I will probably have to learn it again.

The best bang for your buck is to buy an SCT device with custom tunes already on it. You will get the support of a tuner to make sure everything is running properly and it gives you the best drivability and most gains.

I personal preference is 5 Star as they have awesome reliability, drivability, amazing for towing and a good power increase. Plus they are teamed up with Stage 3 and offer a 5yr/60,000mile Powertrain warranty to replace Fords.

If you are racing then MPT or LET may be a better option.
