So I'm considering selling my truck and have been wondering if I'd be better to return the truck to stock and sell it (and sell all the modifications that have been taken off it), or leave it the way it is and sell it. Which would sell for more?

In my experience you'll get more putting it back to stock and selling the parts individually. Unless the right buyer comes along who knows what the parts are worth, most aren't willing to pay any extra for the mods on the truck.

x2 on that. Selling private you may do better. A dealer won't give you a penny over stock, some will strip it and keep or sell the stuff on the side.
You can however negotiate with some dealers. I told one fine, I'm going home, strip the truck and be back in a week to start shopping again. they came up with a reasonable offer so I left as was. others? they let me walk
Just doing the same thing. Dealer wants it back to stock. My salesman is an old gearhead as well, and has already bought my tires/wheels, CAI, and suspension. Only bugaboo is the exhaust, I still have the complete stock system, but now, I'll have a complete burned in Borla SType sitting there.
For every modified car/truck you see on the roads, there are 20 or more unmodified. To put this another way, 95%+ of the people out there won't spend the extra money to modify their vehicles.
What this means is you'll recoup almost nothing on the mods (best case) or people will shy away because of the mods (worse case).
Some vehicles buck this trend like Jeeps as it is pretty rare to see an unmodified version. Because of this, even Jeep dealers lift many/most of their stock and add that to the price.
I would sell off the wheels/tires and remove any lifts. Make it look as stock as possible.
As much as a pain in the butt it may be, returning it to stock would be in your best interest.. Like SSls6 said lots of folks do not care about mods.. As for me I like to mod my truck, but in my way. I choose to buy stock vehicles and see it as an empty canvas. When I am looking for mods I always check craigslist first for take offs..
I've modded my truck, but if I were buying used, I would want a stock truck.Whether true or not, my impression is a stock truck could be a used like a car. never off road, never rodded, never hauled anything. With a modded truck, you don't know how it's been used or the quality of the mods and installs. That's not to say a modded truck hasn't been well done or cared for. I'd just trust a stock truck more.
