Trucks aren't trucks anymore
Does anyone else feel like these new trucks aren't really trucks anymore? I remember my old 98 F150, just get in it and go. No issues and got rid of it around the 150,000 mile mark, same thing with my 03 king ranch. This 2012 I have, last summer the 3rd brake light leaked. This week again leaking in the cab, brought it to ford, thinking it was the third brake light. Nope it was drain tubes in the sunroof that were clogged. Not covered under warranty because nothing is broke and the dealerships tell me " try not to park under trees". Wtf, it's a truck. Not some little kit car or something.

Beer Gut Extraordinaire
So you have one minor issue and suddenly trucks aren't trucks anymore? Jeezus.

That's very true, I wash my truck when it gets dirty and make sure all maintenance is performed regularly but do any of you clean your sunroof drain hoses? I honestly never even open mine up due to the reports of them braking so I figured with it closed nothing would really get in. I. Assuming this is a constant issue if maintenance isn't up kept with the drains

Ok, maybe my rant went off course. I'll reword it, the third brake light and sunroof are not new to the trucks, they have in the trucks the last 10-15 yrs at least so why do we still have issues with the old stuff?

Trucks aren't trucks anymore
Because you didn't buy an f250. Just kidding. The older trucks didn't have all the creature comforts they do these days. With the gadgets come the headaches of maintaining them.

Yeah, my opinion is sunroofs don't belong in trucks, but I'm not buying platinum level trucks either, XLT for me.
Anyway, don't get down of Ford about the drain tubes, that is a problem on any car/truck with a sunroof. It's a maintenance item that no one knows about and does a lot of damage when it happens. I come from Audi's and when those clog your foot wells flood. A supplier of mine just recently told me his wife's R-class Mercedes had clogged sunroof tubs and the passenger footwell flooded. What does Mercedes put in the passenger foot well? The computer. So that fried. His insurance totaled the car. They told him with water and electrical components, issues can and will pop up 6 months or more down the road when things corrode and they will be paying out repairs for years. They said now they just total the car and it's cheaper in the long run. Go figure.
