Trucks aren't trucks anymore

I got my lariat with all the toys because I like them and I also like having the open bed when going to the beach and going fishing and keeping all that stuff out of the cabin but I also like being high up and having the luxury of towing with it if I need to. Besides, these trucks look great

OP, you should really be complaining about how they don't make sunroofs like they used to. You probably should've gotten the truck with a T-top instead!

Why would anybody want a sunroof? Or soft comfortable seats? Or a quiet cab? Why would anybody want an air conditioner that gets really cold or a suspension system that doesn't rupture your spleen?
I think I'm going to sell my truck and buy a team of mules and a buckboard!
I'm just messing with you guys ! But I love my cushy trucks.
I didn't know about the sunroof drains, have to check them. If either of my 3rd brake lights leak I'll probably just discreetly seal them with clear silicone.

Because ford sticks 4 or 5 options in one package together, so if you want one thing you have to get all of them, or they'll tie two option packages together so if you want one you have to get the other. Granted I kind of boxed myself into a corner being set on a specific color, trim level, and the max tow package but there were quite a few options on my truck that I wouldn't have on it if they were individual options

Personally I'd love to get my hands on an old school pickup truck, I'm just worried I'd end up having to put too much money into it since I'm not mechanically inclined and can't fix them myself without having to watch a youtube video first.

[QUOTE=Ncm86;4288999]Does anyone else feel like these new trucks aren't really trucks anymore? I remember my old 98 F150, just get in it and go. /quote
I agree, I had a 1995 for a dozen yrs, no problems. Normal Maint, it never stranded me.
My "New" 2013 can put me one the side of the road for a blown tail light. I'm not kidding. I started a thread you can find, they tried to beat on me over my disapoinment with my 2013 aboout to many WING DINGS that I don't need in my truck.

I generally buy XL / XLT type trucks. Power locks / windows, AC, and cruise control are all the creature comforts I really want. I have started to like backup camera's though. My wife's SUV has one, that I didn't want when we bought it, but I've been converted.
It does seem like they could keep the 3rd brake light from leaking, though. Silicone the darn thing from the factory if there's no other option. I'd rather deal with the pain in the butt of changing the bulbs once or twice the lifetime of the truck than have a stinky/stained headliner. My 98 Dodge had the same leak, luckily it ran down the inside of the back glass rather than soaking the headliner. A bead of silicone fixed it for the next 150k miles. So the third brake light gasket failure has been an issue for maybe 20 years and seems like something that could be avoided with a better gasket, a factory silicone bead....something.
