Default Truck Washing Tips

I like to have a clean truck, although probably don't wash it as often as I should. One of the main reasons is that drying the truck is a headache. I can get it clean, but getting it dry without leaving water spots is a struggle. What do you guys use to get your truck dry? I've used everything from old towels, old tshirts, terry towels, and chamois; all with mixed results.

And what wax to do you use to keep it repelling water and make the drying easier?

I use this to get the majority of water off:

Then I dry using one of these.

As far as wax I just put my first coat of this on:

I use a rinseless product. You wash the truck a section at a time and dry that section before moving on to the next. The hard part is that water stays under the bedrail caps, headlights and taillights, mirrors, and handles then drop-down after you dry leaving streaks. Some folks use compressed air or a leaf blower to get the water out of those spots

In this order ...
  1. California Water Blade (with extension handle).
  2. compressed air.
  3. chamois.
Polish

*Been using it since 1985

I wash and dry my trucks one section at a time. Jacksonville water blows. Seriously I've never seen water that spots so bad

I use 2 buckets of water, one with the soap and one with clean water to rinse. I also try to keep the truck wet during the entire wash and then dry when all done. Has worked for me so far.

First I use a California water blade like posted above, then I get the rest of the water with a few jumbo microfiber towels, the kind that are ridiculously soft. Then I go back over it with quick detailer spray to get any remaining water spots. I use a separate beater towel for the wheels.

I try to maintain a good coat of wax so the water beads and I use a Califonia water blade followed by a cotton towel. And occasionally I follow up with gloss detail spray, either HD or Zaino.
