Default Truck Tool box

Hey folks,

I've had 3 Rangers in the past; great little trucks. I had a saddle style poly tool box that I migrated to all three.

My 2011 STX is my first full-size so I'm wondering what kind of tool box you folks are using. Do they even make poly saddle style for full-size trucks? I see the aluminum boxes but I only put some small hand tools, chains, jumper cables, chainsaw when needed, etc.

What boxes are you folks using? I have looked at the ones at Lowes.com and Homedepot.com but would like some real-world info.

Thanks

I'm just curious what others are using really. I haven't decided one way or another yet.

Before you jump to buy ... make sure you realize you can get these in silver, black, and probably other colors ... and, there are "low profile" styles that don't stick up high over the bed ... there are "shallow" models that don't go deep into the bed so that you and fit stuff UNDER them in the truck bed ... there are ones that are more narrow (front to back), etc. There are even some that are made to mount to the floor of the bed right behind the cab if you have a tonneau cover and/or just want it to be more hidden from view.

LOTS of options for these style bed boxes ... do your research and find the one right for you. Probably gonna cost you about $400, give or take ... but if you 'need' one, it's a wonderful investment.

Here's a pic of mine ... low profile top, normal size all the way around otherwise ...

All excellent points Wiggum. I have noticed the different styles, colors, materials and prices. I am researching diligently

I know you folks, as a group, have a lot more experience and knowledge than I do so I do appreciate any info.

I prefer the flush mounted tool boxes. When I restored my '65 F100 I wanted to get rid of the fuel tank behind the seat and fount this tool box/ 41 gallon fuel tank combo.

Got this one from home depot. Usually $289 but my friend works there so I got a discount. It's a decent box
