Truck Tents

I chose this truck tent because it got the best reviews for fit for F150s with the 6.5 bed.
I don't want/need a cap and certainly wouldn't buy one just for camping.
And the use of a trailer is cheating and is not real camping! At least this is what I tell myself as I look on with jealously haha. Maybe one day

I normally use a ground tent but after a camping trip last year where it rained for nearly two days straight, I thought it seemed like a great idea. This is my 3rd camping trip this summer and I avoided using it on the other trips. Reason being if you want to drive off to go fishing, hiking, etc., you have to remove the tent(I guess technically you could leave it on). But it was a snap to get off, I removed the poles and the exterior straps(leaving the interior ones on) and it collapsed into the bed. Then I let a little air out of the mattress so I could close the tailgate, load up the coolers and bam, you re ready to go, took 5 min.

I have nothing to add other than this thread ended up making me buy a new ground tent and plan a trip for this weekend after I read it last night. haha

Those root top tents are nice. A buddy of mine sells them. If you're in the market for one, give him a call.

Myself, I plan on going with one of these

It's a truck bed tent, But made of Canvas instead of Nylon. I've had them before, and while heavier, they're much sturdier than the nylon ones. And face it, weight is of no concern with a truck tent, it's not like you'll be backpacking with it.
Better insulated from storms and everything.
The one I had before was a ground one that had a wood burning stove in the corner. I'll never buy a Nylon one again.
The only reason I don't have that Canvas one anymore is the Ex-Wife took it in the divorce.

That canvas one looks good and sturdy. Wonder how dirty it gets? I need one with AC because here in Texas it is hot as heck and I like camping on the beach this time of year because the surf fishing is good. It just gets so hot inside a tent.
