My neighbor witnessed the whole thing happen. He was out planting flowers and said he heard a loud grinding noise coming from my house and he noticed my truck was starting to slowly move forward. He then noticed nobody was in it and shortly after it crashed into the ditch. 3 months later or so I still have no idea what happened or why and had to toss $800 out the window. Now I want to sell the truck but I don't feel right selling it to someone knowing you have to set the e-brake every time you park it. The dealership in my area wants to charge me to look into it. I said no more after the $200 Transmission service they did and charged me. Said they cant find anything wrong with it without tearing the transmission apart and that's like a $800.00 job or something like that. Maybe the word gets out now and there will be a recall or something. We can only hope.
With the truck off make sure you can't move the shifter out of park.

Or just put on the parking brake like the manual suggests you do every time you park.

My Mustang uses the rear brake shoes for parking.
Truthfully if you are parking on a hill like that you should always use the parking brake and it actually tells you to on page 210 in the manual. Fords protection from the Park Pawl not engaging and your truck rolling away.

I try to remember to use mine at least a couple times a month. Just for the sake of keeping it working properly.
I'll freely admit I don't use my parking brake unless it's a very noticeable grade.

In my 40 years I can't think of many that do routinely. New England certainly has varying conditions. We have towns that are all ledge and resemble San Francisco.
So just last week, I worked in a town (Melrose, for you local guy's) that is all hills. Used my brake every morning for the time I was there. It was a calf burner just walking up his damn driveway. Then it's 14 stairs just to get into the house. No thank you!
For me tho, everywhere I've lived the driveway has been dead flat.
Just isn't a habit I developed and I drove a standard for 2 years....18 year's ago, but even that habit wore off quickly once I got into an automatic.

I'm always making sure my bike is in gear with the wheel turned to the sidewalk, but honestly never think about my parking brake in the truck every time.
Probably should more conscious of it, if there's truly the potential for that to happen in our trucks. Which this is my 15th vehicle. Never once did any of those cars & trucks, make me take notice of that being a possibility.

Probably should...
You have to make sure that that brake is functional, you never know when you need to impress the ladies with a handbrake turn!

I've been dying to do this along with the chrome mirror caps. I like the matte wrap but i like the paint match. I think I'll leave the lettering chrome though.
