Alrighty then. We can eliminate GM from the list for the sole fact that the 2014's are having issues. Looks like a 6.2 Ford is the only option left,

Hey FordService, let's talk trade values!

I won't spoil the ending for you but will add that others will chime in at the end who suffer the same symptoms with all very low milage. I have no clue if these issues are resolved I really don't follow every trucks issue just found these via google since the OP of this thread is working through his truck maintenance issues and considering some options. I've had horrific luck with GM products in the past so I'm more then happy to point out the grass is not greener with a GM and if it helps someone out here with some decision making knowledge I've done my good deed for the day.

Do you tow lots? Is the EB engine not a contender or the 5.0 for moderate towing? I bet the 5.0 is pretty damm close to the 5.3 in the GM. Throw a tune on it and your golden I would think. I don't know what incentives you have in Alberta ATM for the 13s but we've got $9,250 +1K from Costco in Ontario and that's without haggling yet.

Im getting to the resolution now. Looks like the owner of the dealership magically finally finds out and supplies new truck. Hmmmmm....

And you are so right, the grass is the same color everywhere. Unless you wear rose colored glasses ;-).

I finished the story then was struck by a painfully paranoid thought. Nowhere in that story does it identify the dealership, that I saw, so, who is to say that it was not some made up thing by a competitor to bring shame and worry to GM? What made me think that was the relatively few posts from the OP and the brief "I'm getting a new truck thanks for all your support" and that was it! Anyway, I am probably imagining it but in this day of web marketing there are subversive ways to manipulate opinion and this thread reached a lot of people. I am probably wrong about it but it did make me think they are in a war for marketshare and all's fair right?

We'll yeah there is always that possibility but the GM customer service rep chimed in a few times that they were in contact with the owner so if it was a competitor do you think the GM rep would interact? If it was hoax I'm sure the fraud would be called out and thread locked etc and then a few other posters came along with a similar issue. Sure it could be but this was linked to other GM forums too someone along the chain would have flushed out the fraud or if it was even a troll. The owner was way to civilized which was odd to me but in the end he said he was now a lifelong customer for this experience seems unlikely a Ford plant or Troll would act this way the outcome was way to rosey. Ya never know /tin foil hat off....lol.

I also Posted a thread called: (check it out)
Warranty Work Performed my Dealer and did an awesome job!!

I have 3"' Pro Comp leveling kit, BFG 34.1" tires(per tire only 5lbs heavier then stock 31.9"), K&N series 63 Kit and all my work was Warranty from TSB's it started off in here F150 Forum with Ashley & Bianca, then they got me Jacqueline Ford Service CA, who was from Florida who was in contact with my Dealer's Service manager till the truck went in and work performed & my service Rep Christine was 100% on the ball getting it all done with the right Tech's

They road tested it 40 some Km's

Rear End oil slinger was changed and all new bolts and lock nuts, TSB

Trans was 2 TSB for hard shifting and lag in reverse

Trans Cold start Lundging and Jerking going from 1-2-3 gears TSB fixed it

Latch broke off slider, they replaced the whole slider

3rd Brake light fills up with water, replaced new Brake light

Back door stopper broke off, new one replaced

Driver's Mirror fell out, they took it out and popped back in no charge

Retorqued wheels after roation, topped air to 40 p.s.i

only charged 40.00 for car rentle they had truck for 4 days in out fast like bunny.....

This truck is Better then it was when New (stock), shifts faster smoother, no lag, no clicking or popping, it goes off the line like my Supercharged GTP Grand Prix. It feel's tight and solid, goes like scared bunny......

Maybe I just have a Great Dealer and Service Rep, but they have been the best right from buying this truck, best deal, gave there cost on all accessories I put on through the Custom shops they use.

Just saying......there are thousands of these trucks needing TSB's mind you mine is 2012 and most TSB's are 2012-2013, but there is a flaw there somewhere with the parts in the rear-end.

If you can't do this to a truck then something wrong with there design...my older trucks with actual lift kits and 38 " tires never had these problems....and we drove these trucks hard

Grandpa... I love your truck. The color, the stance, the chrome accents (just the right amount). Seriously, I never get tired of seeing it.

Hardcore... I was hard on you earlier. Sorry for that.

I agree with you 100% on the new GM truck. I drove a fully loaded Silverado before pulling the trigger on my Limited F150. I was not impressed for the folowing reasons:
  1. The truck drove BIG and SOFT... and not in a good way. The F150 felt much more nimble and sporty.
  2. All trucks look better with some sort of lift, but the new Chevy needs it badly; in stock form it looks like a slammed low rider. That big massive grill demands at least a 6" lift. In stock form it just looks out of proportion.
  3. I drove the biggest cab config but it still wasn't as spacious as the F150 backseat.
  4. The new interior is nice, but I still like the F150 layout, fit, finish, etc. better.
  5. Finally price... they wanted every bit of the $55k price tag, which is more than $10k more than I spent on my Limited. That made the decision super easy.

I am not a "Ford guy" at all. I've owned them all and liked them all. My wife currently has 55k miles on her 2010 GMC Yukon Denali XL and it's been flawless. Love the 6.2L in that truck. Hardcore... when I hear you talk about how much you love your dad's 6.2L in his F150 I get a little jealous that I don't have one in my Limited. It's not like I'm getting good mpg's with my Eco, so why not?

Very good points! The GMC did drive quite big. One thing that took forever to get used to was the windshield size. It is quite small, and the hood was higher. And since you sit fairly high in a truck, I had to lower the seat so that I wasn't looking at the headliner. It gave me the feeling that I was in a bomb vault or something, but I eventually got used to it.

Price is pretty much the main thing stopping me from trying GM out again. If I could get a Sierra for the same price as an FX4 I would march down to the GM dealer with my money and pick one up. I used to be brand loyal towards Ford, but since my Ford turned into a POS I see the competitors totally different. The GMC really is a nice truck and I applaud GM for making a really nicely finished (albeit, busy) interior, smooth and quiet powertrain and bold looks. The more I look at it, the more I love the styling of the Gmc. It demands attention wherever it goes, and it gets it.

With that said, GM focused their priorities on comfort, quietness and interior quality and skimped on the powertrain. 355hp and a 6 speed, and you have to go to the 6.2L for more money to get satisfactory power. Believe me, the GMC is fairly quick and It was never so short on power that it disappointed me, but GM doesn't make it feel powerful. They need something in between the 5.3 and 6.2.

I do love my dad's 6.2L and you bring up a very good point. I would have peace of mind that it'd last for thousands of miles problem free, whereas my Eco makes a new alarming noise every time I cold start it. The 6.2 has great power, extremely smooth shifts and the longevity to boot.
