Default Truck died in intersection....

Yesterday, my 2011 5.0 started pulsating after startup and for a few seconds after throwing it in gear. I figured it was some computer adjustments, and drove to work after it cleared up.

Today, none of this happened with startup so I was pretty relieved. I got about 1/8 mile away and was 1/4 way through an intersection and it started chiming, showing low oil pressure, and died. Luckily it was 0615 and I was almost alone on the road. I started it back up and went to the shoulder, oil level was ok and nothing dripping, etc so I drove on to work.

Any idea on the cause? No real mods engine wise to the truck. I didn't post this in 2011+ engines because i wasn't sure of the actual problem.thanks

Were you on any kind of incline? I have the 6.2l V8 and twice my truck has done this. Both times were while the truck was cold and inclined.

My Eco did something similar. Check the fuses in the box under the hood. I had one blown and several that were not properly seated. I know others have had fuse issues as well.

That's pretty scary. Not cool at all. I'd be concerned

It was as flat as a board and 85 degrees. No fuse problems, just checked. It would have been scary on the interstate

I'm just guessing but, I think it died because the low oil pressure light came on and the computer shut the engine down to avoid damage thinking it was low on oil. The oil pressure sending unit is probably going to hell, or something along those lines???

Or the opposite, the engine died, low oil pressure showed up... People often miss the correct sequence of events at times like these. Usually it's after you step on the gas and nothing happens and you notice chimes and flashing lights.

Low oil pressure would be simply because the engine died.

Why does it always shock people that this happens??? "my engine died and the oil light came on, I checked my oil level and it's ok..." Genius!
