Default truck bed spare tire mount

I just put a 35-inch tire on my spare, now it doesn’t really fit under the truck (2012 XLT) I was wondering if there’s any issues if I just leave it in the truck bed? Or if there is a truck bed spare tire yall recommend?

i've seen people over the years just throw spares in the bed and let them bounced all around but personally i would never do it. that's just too much weight freely moving around imo. it's a bad thing waiting to happen. there are tons of spare tire bed mounts available on the market today.

I plan on using a simple ratchet strap and secure it to the bed tie downs. no special mount required.

Yes, read through my sig line post with pictures of my truck and the spare. 35” spares will fit on your gen. You will however need to remove the heat shield and wrap your exhaust pipe. It’s very easy. Having the spare in the bed sucks. The only time I put my spare in the bed is when i’m Going on an off-road trip. Then it makes it easy to access if I need it on the trails.

What's wrong with an old school redneck front bumper mount?
