Truck Bed Cap or Topper

Truck Bed Cap or Topper
I have an 2010 F150 XL and I am looking for a truck cap for it. I would prefer to buy it used. Has anyone dealt with the issue that the width is wider by the cab versus the tail gate? I believe it is 73" by the cab and 71" by the gate. All the caps I have seen are the same width from front to back. I was wondering if a 70" wide cap would work. Thanks in advance.

if you buy a cap/topper built for your model year....there shouldn't be any issues. If you try to make one fit from a different model year, then you will will most likely have issues with fit. a 70" wide cap might "work" but it won't fit properly so will most likely leak water, let dust in, etc.

rollin in my 5.0
I bought a used one and I can tell you the previous generation bed tops are slightly shorter, I got mine for 200 bucks to keep my junk dry while i moved to FLA , and I had to camp in it for a few days till I got my **** right, but I trimmed the back corners and it fits fine I might just leave it on.
