Default Which truck?

I am currently looking at 2 different trucks. BOth 2013. Ecoboost. 4x4. Lariat with 502. Pretty much every interior option on both trucks. Mileage within 200 of each other. Same interior color.

Truck 1
Short box. Drop in bed liner. #1 color choice. Dealer is 150 miles away. Priced $1400 more than truck 2.

Truck 2
Long box. bed mat. Rollback cover. Tailgate step. #3 color choice. Dealer is 65 miles away.

Which one would you go with?

I'd personally go drive both and see which one feels better. Used vehicles can vary vastly on the condition they were kept in. Only real way to know is to drive both.

Thanks guys. I'm trying to get something set up for test drives. They both were grocery getters. Especially truck 2. Never had a receiver in the hitch, not a mark in the bed and only 2 small scratches on the side where it looks like someone reached into the bed with a coat on. Truck 1 has a few little character marks but again pretty clean.

Do you need the long bed or not? It may not seem like a lot of extra truck, but it makes a difference if you are city driving and parking consistently. On the flip side, if you plan on making use of the bed, that extra foot helps if you plan on filling it quite frequently!

I think that right there should be the biggest deciding factor. Those other things are easy fixes/changes that you can do later on in the trucks life with you.

Go with truck 2 for the longer bed.

That is assuming you need a truck to do truck stuff. If you are getting a truck just to tow a boat/trailer and the bed size is not an issue, still get the long bed. =)

I am just kidding, but really I have been thankful countless times that I selected the 6.5' over the 5.5' bed. When I am loading up gear to go camping, helping a friend move something, trips to the hardware store for lumber, and countless other applications. I have only wanted a shorter bed one time, and that was while in the city trying to find a parking spot.

Also, I think the longer beds look better with a two door cab. Although opinions vary, and as I am not making the payments, my opinion matters for little here.

But as others said, test drive both, as used vehicles vary far more than new ones.

I have a 6.5' bed now but w/ an ext cab (Silverado) and I find myself filling up the bed quite a bit. I think a large reason for that though is the lack of space inside the cab. I know my kid would love the extra space of the crew cab.

Oh there's a difference between a crew cab and an F150 Crew Cab, you will find yourself with WAY more room than you think if you haven't been in an F150 Crew Cab before. Seats fold up and out of the way for a flat floor with lots of room.

My buddy has a 13 or 14 screw with the 5.0. I've driven that a few times and road in it a lot. I figured when I get in trouble at home I could fold the seat up and sleep in the back. The back seat size, and the fact that it folds flat, are two big selling points for me.

I have yet to drive an ecoboost but I am guessing I will be pleasantly surprised. The wife has a Durango with a hemi so driving that compared to this 5.3 in my truck makes it feel like a slug.

I think you need to drive both as well to get a feel for the size difference. I opted for a short bed so it would fit in my garage. (Bed volume is 52.8 vs 62.3 cu ft/2015 specs)
