Default Trip Report

Took the 2013 FX4 Screw on a summer road trip. Left with 1200 miles on the odometer and returned with 3900.

Couple observations:

Got 18.3 mph with the 5.0 and 3.73 gears. Cruise control set anywhere from 65-70mph.

Truck seemed to wander alot on the highway. Not sure if that was the Toyo AT IIs or a characteristic of the truck. It definately had a pull to the right which I didnt notice with the stock Wranglers.

The truck doesnt coast and hold speed well. Takes alot of gas pedal play to keep it steady.

There is a dead spot in the powerband at about 1800rpm. Need to kick the tranny down a gear pretty hard to get it going.

The navigation unit sucks.

Seats are comfortable.

What size tires? Wider tires than stock will wander on the road. They actually ride the groves in the road the 18 wheelers make.

For the gas pedal play, I found mine had a lot of delay and a disconnection feeling between the petal and what the motor did. A tune fixed it!

What do you mean doesn't coast?

What's wrong with the NAV?

What kind of tune?

What do you mean doesn't coast?

It loses momentum quickly is a better way to put it.

What's wrong with the NAV?

Wouldnt allow me to enter numbers when needed and the appropriate letters to spell out a street werent always available. Voice commands almost never recognized.

That's good gas mileage considering you probably had truck loaded up. I have an '11 Fx4 w/ 3.73 and returned same mileage as yours on recent 720mi trip w/ truck loaded up w/ fishing/camping gear and coolers full of food and beer.

Last time you had alignment checked? I'm still on stock tires. The only time I experience the truck wandering or downshifting to maintain speed on relatively level hwy is when there is gusty winds or a headwind, which is quite often in my parts.

With the cruise control set to 65 - 70mph but only got 18.3mph, must have had frequent / long stops? Sounds like a trip with my wife.

Almost the same as my 18.1 I averaged last year when I had my '11 Lariat 4x4 with the 5.0 but with 3.55's. This was on a 2,600 mile round trip from Southeast Louisiana to Delaware. My truck was leveled 2 inches and had 275x60x20 Toyo AT2's. Never had any wandering problems or trouble with the cruise holding speed's. I ran the whole trip at the posted speed limit's or when it was raining hard even slower. Good job on your 18.3 avg!

Turns out actual mileage was only 17.47 when calculated manually so thats almost 1mpg lower than the dash gauge showed.

No not really. There was some driving around town once our destinations were reached but the majority was highway cruising.

Is that 18.3mpg uncorrected or corrected for the new tire size?
