Transmission stuck in 5th gear after jumping battery?
Ok, so I don't like to kill the battery on my 2013 STX that's only weeks old, but I've left my parking lights on twice.. which kills my battery overnight. With that said, the first time I jump started my truck, I went to put it in drive only to have it go to 5th gear. No matter what I did, it wouldn't budge. And yes, it was actually in 5th gear. I had to turn off my truck and restart it to clear the issue...
I thought it was a fluke, but last night, I left my parking lights on. I walked out to my pickup this morning running late to work only to have a dead battery. After jumping it, I had it do the same thing... get stuck in 5th gear.
Has this issue happened to anyone else? I don't have auto headlights, but I wish the ECU realized, "Hey, he left his parking lights on for more than 1 minute and the truck's off... maybe I should automatically turn them off." Oh well.

The head lites will turn off after certain time the parking lights wont that is why they are called parking lites not to see where your parking but to be seen when your parked or standing in or near a traffic area for a short time.
We have had those on here before who didn't know that it was on there.
Yes its silly that the parking lights dont turn off after five minutes or so! I drive with my parking lights on in the evenings or overcast days because. I think amber lights look better than glaring white annoying drls in daylight!
Even my power adapter has the ability to shut off when it senses the battery is low on power!?!
