Transmission Issues
When mine jumped out of gear on the freeway, I shut down, restarted and then drove in manual for safety. I do not know if that actually helped, because many people shut down, and then drive normally after that. It is a very intermittent issue.
My 13 3.7 f150 does this and I get a cylinder 6 misfire as well. Which is weird when they both have had a two plug and coil replaced. I’ve had this wrench issue since the late summer. Lately it’s getting worse and worse and I need to get this fixed as well. It’s def a safety issue when going down the road at 80mph and you notice the gauges start to bounce
My 2012 is having the same issue and Ford told me my vin is not included in the recall and wanted $574 to fix it. I priced the lead frame at $137.50 and 7 quarts of fluid at $10.50 each. I called corporate and filed a complaint on Friday and a manager from corporate called me back today and I was able to get them to cover $300 of the repair cost so in the long run it’s gonna cost me about $50 more than if I was to do the repair myself
There is NOW a safety recall regarding this transmission and I believe this part ! It got to be a safety issue because several customers reported it to the government because the vehicle could shift into first gear while driving at high speed causing the rear tires to loose traction and the vehicle to skid.
I believe the recall number is 19V-075.

Just received a recall notice on my 2011 F150 for sudden downshift. Is now considered a safety issue. Recall does not allow reimbursement for prior repair made prior to recall.
Called Ford "Customer don't care" and they said no, could not help with prior repairs. Contacted my dealer and they told me that the recall only covers reprogramming the computer
to ignore errors coming from transmission. Dealer also said that this fix doesn't work and ford told them to not do any more reprogramming until Ford issues another update in 2Q-2019.
Very disappointing that Ford is leaving me hanging with a $600 repair bill.

Isn’t there a recall that came out last month about this where the transmission shifts to 1st gear when driving? They do a software update on the PCM, I had the update installed at the dealer. Thankfully I wasn’t having issues before hand but I wanted to be safe and got the update installed. https://www.f150forum.com/f38/recall...39289/index17/
The recall that just came out only allows dealer to reprogram computer to ignore the error coming from the transmission. Just talked to the dealer about 2 hours ago and they said this fix does not solve the problem, "no kidding", and Ford is supposed to issue an update to the recall in 2nd qtr. The repair I had to have done last year required the dealer to open up the transmission and replace parts. That fixed the sudden downshift and dash warning lights.
