I have a 12 f150 with the 5.0. Truck just threw a wrench and Speedometer went to 0 and it was stuck in 5th, No manual mode, goes to reverse but in drive it only goes in 5th. I pulled over let it sit for a bit and then everything went back to normal. I hadn’t changed the transmission fluid (since it’s “lifetime”). I’m thinking I have a bad speed sensor. Is it worth changing my transmission fluid? I have 178k on the odometer. Any other suggestion that I should look at besides the speed sensor? I noticed when downshifting it either stays in 3rd or downshift to 1st. I can’t seem to take off in second from a roll. But when it shifts in to and out of 2nd just fine. Today was the first time it’s doing this. Please help! Thank you in advance

 

Research LEAD FRAME.

That what it sounds like it wrong with your transmission.

 

You need a new lead frame. Changing fluid more often can help since the lead frame gets contaminated with fine particles.

 

 

I’ve replaced the lead frame, and did a service on the transmission but I am still skipping second when downshifting. Just then installed while parking. I’ve replaced the fuse 27 and cleaned the MAF recently. Anyone has any idea if these issues are related or not? Secondly anyone has an idea how much a trans rebuild cost?
