Default transmission indicator light?

good morning,

on my 2012 f150, screw, 3.7,the transmission indicator on the right hand side of the dash screen, just disappeared last week,(14000 mi.). the manual DOES NOT say how to reset the light(page 38)...i could not find it anywhere in the book, maybe i overlooked something....

called ford customer service and the very friendly lady could not find anything either....said i need to go to the "solutions dept." or to the dealership....whats up with that????????

any other suggestions? i really don't want to go to the local dealer....

also, is the right side mirror supposed to dim like the others at night?

LOVE the truck....21.7 high milage, 14.8 low, pulls my boat like a dream...daily commuter...two oil changes(mobil 1)

thanks in advance,

good luck,
PURA VIDA,

Are you talking the number on the right of the center LCD that shows what gear you are in? If so, just crank the truck and press up on the selectshift switch on the shifter arm. It should re-appear. Down would also make it appear, but I think it would limit the truck to 5th gear. Been a while since I hit the buttons there to remember.

As page 38 says ........ " The transmission gear indicator displays in the right side of the message
center when using the SelectShift Automatic transmission feature. This
display will not be shown in all screen modes. "

Did you happen to change the screen mode when this happened ?

Secondly --- no the passenger side mirror will not dim .

Yep, just push the + on the shift lever, and it will come back on. You probably bumped the - when you put it in gear. I did that all the time.

When you get the ECM flashed, it will reset some things to default. One of these is:
Display Memory On / OFF - it will be set back to OFF.
Then even if you set the gear display to ON, every time the truck is turned off, it will reset back to OFF, because that is the default.

To keep things where you set them - Find the Vehicle settings section and set the Display Memory to ON Then when you turn on the gear display, it will be there after you stop and start the truck.

Good deal brother. That's why I like this forum so well. It's like my hero Luther "Suitcase " Simpson says, "The information's out there, you just gotta let it in."

Yeah, I'm glad this forum has the people on it that don't mind helping out...It is like Dieselstop for the Powerstroke owners. I had a 2000 Superduty with a 7.3 and that forum was a life and money saver for me..Now I have its replacement and have found a similar forum and I can't be happier!!!! Thanks F150forum.com!!!
