Transmission 'eek' noise on kickdown

I've got the same problem (intermittent) and I've got less than 9k on mine. A 2013 I've only had for about a year. Took it to the dealer for 5k service and told the service and told the service writer about the problem. Even though there's a fix for the problem, they won't touch it unless they can re-create it. To me, not very good service on a $55k truck.
Its embarrassing when it happens when other people are riding with me in my "new truck."

Also, keep in mind that as they're independently owned and operated, you're free to visit another local dealer for this concern. If you do decide to take that route, please provide the name of that dealership instead.

no because like the OP said, the dealer will probably spend 3 hours of my time looking at only to tell me they cant reproduce it. And, then tell me they know what the issue is but wont fix it until they can reproduce it. Its just not worth my time yet.

I'm Todd, the new Ford Service rep for the forum. I'm here if and when you decide to head into your local Ford Dealership.
Have a great weekend!

Before I took it in I did some experimenting and and found that I could consistently reproduce the noise (moan/groan) if: 1) the trans temp was warm, but not up to full operating temp (< ~170* F) and the truck was parked on an incline. The noise would also show up intermittently at other times and conditions.
I actually ended up having to take it in twice to the dealer to get the problem analyzed to their satisfaction and the repair scheduled.
The first time that I went there, I was able to reproduce it for the service writer because I had parked on an incline and the transmission temp was below 160.
The second time, I was again able to reproduce the noise for the service writer (proper temp. and on incline). The tech then arrived and instead of listening to the noise under the correct conditions, he drove the truck away to do his own "analysis." This took about 1/2 hour and included about a 10 minute "test drive." I was in the waiting area and observed all of this. The tech came back, parked on the incline and (guess what) he was unable to reproduce the noise.
I saw the service writer coming to get me so I walked out to them and stated very slowly "like I told you before, it will not happen when the transmission is at full operating temperature."
The tech then parked the truck to let it cool down. After another wait of about 1-1/2 hours, it had cooled enough so the noise could be reproduced. After another half-hour (or so), the parts had been ordered and a repair scheduled.
As of now, I have an appointment for next Tuesday morning to have TSB 14-0134 applied. However, I am disappointed that what should have taken maybe up to an hour to resolve and get scheduled took over three or four times that long....but its now going to get done now and that was the main objective.
It also helped that I had a copy of the TSB with me. They wanted to know how I got it. However, they did copy it and attach it to the Work Order.

I searched and haven't found anyone describing this exact same problem:
Occasionally (intermittently) when the transmission does a kick down -i.e. I put my foot down and it drops a few gears for heavy acceleration- I hear a screeching/whining sound. It's pretty loud.
It mostly happens at highway speeds.
Has anyone had this issue?
I have a 2013 ecoboost FX4...

Last time I noticed I was in 3rd gear. I think it probably shifted down from 5th or 6th as it happened. It happens after coasting down somewhat and then hammering the throttle, but I'm not sure if I am already slowly accelerating before that or not. Could be caught just as it tries to upshift and then I am going WOT and it is tries to downshift then too. Unfortunately the highway interchange it has happened 2 or 3 times is an hour from me. Next time over there I plan to test it some more.
As you've said, this is too difficult to explain and recreate at the dealer. Hopefully someone else has had this identified by now.

I had the same squawking noise on the downshift like you guys are having on my 13 limited. The TSB listed in this thread is what fixed mine. My Username on that board is Sir_Boosted. Check it out, and all the info is there.

These Transmissions make me nervous.

I've had this happen two or three times on my '13 FX4 5.0 in the past 33k miles. Disconcerting, but I know that I'll just be wasting my time taking it into the dealership because I am unable to reproduce the problem on demand.
Usually notice it when following a slow car at 50 MPH, then accelerating to pass. When the transmission downshifts it makes a strange whining noise. If I let up on the accelerator the noise stops and things work fine again.

Quick update: yes, the existing TSB procedure fixed the problem for me. The dealership knew about it and performed it without having to reproduce/demonstrate it.
Since then, I did notice on one occasion, a strange click, when I kind of knew "OK this was the moment when I was supposed to hear the whine". The click still bothers me a bit (because I know something is acting funny), but overall I'm happy with the transmission now.
