Default Transmission downshift recall in 2013 EB--would that keep you from buying?

I've been following the recall issues as I'm in the market for a '13 or '14. There are 2 well-priced 2013s nearby that I'm really interested in, but haven't gone to test drive because they have the open recall (both 3.5 EB). Would that prevent you from test driving/buying? From what I've read the sudden downshift sounds pretty scary, but both trucks are low mileage, have the right options, and in my budget.

Recalls are for the truck, not the owner. When Ford releases the fix for the EB, Ford will fix it for you. I own a 13 EB and have not had a problem with the transmission, just passed 90K miles. Based on my experience, test drive the trucks. If you like them and fit your need, buy it. When the recall comes out, Ford will fix it.

If it were me I would avoid both of them, not because of the recall but because of the ticking timebomb Ecoboost. Dont make the same mistake i did, get a V8 which is what a half ton truck is supposed to have anyway. Not an over boosted Taurus engine.

If the dealer is dragging their feet on the update I would pass on both. If they don’t have the update, make sure they call you ASAP if you buy so it can be updated.

2013 EB does NOT have the update yet, should have it by the end of june. 2014 as of now is not affected regardless of engine

No.

Love my 2013 - had the lead frame replaced my under extended warranty before the recall came out. The recall fix should be out in a few months.

My lead frame went bad at 85k miles. No issues prior.

The transmission wouldn't stop me. But the "EB" would.
