From the service manual, there are three transfer cases on 2011 F150's...
- Borg-Warner 4418 manual shift transfer case. (XL's?)
- Borg-Warner 4419 electronic shift transfer case.
- Borg-Warner one-speed torque-on-demand (TOD) transfer case. (Lariat Limited, HD)

Sorry for reviving this old thread, but how do i identify the different transfer cases?
The manual shifter is out of the question, but what about the other 2?
Is the option 4A (auto awd) on the selector **** equal to the torque on demand?
can i identify them by any (easily) accessible number on the case itself??
I want to change the fluid soon but want to make sure to use the right one...

In 2012, they added a two-speed torque on demand transfer case on some models
"BorgWarner will supply Torque-On-Demand® (TOD®) two-speed transfer cases for the 2012 Ford F-150 Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum models. The first two-speed active all-wheel drive system for F-150 trucks will feature 4- high, 4-low, full-time and automatic all-wheel drive modes. Built with the same high reliability as its previous part-time shift-on-the-fly transfer cases, BorgWarner’s TOD active all-wheel drive technology delivers improved traction, stability and dynamics. Since 2006, BorgWarner has also produced single-speed TOD transfer cases for the F-150 Harley- Davidson edition."

Well, i got a lariat with the 4x4 auto but it also has switch positions for 4 high, 4 low, 2 wd of course and locking the rear diff.
According to my owners manual the ESOF uses XL-12 fluid and the TOD needs Mercon LV.
I just don't know how to identify which one i have - the manual isn't any help with that task. The guy at the local parts store told me today that the Mercon LV should be good for both versions, but they also sold me Bosch spark plugs the other day that caused the engine to start knocking...
Is there a way to tell which AWD is in the truck?

Put your serial number in on this ford site, it will tell you which parts you have and list price.
