only thing the fuse and relay do is electric brake and 12v battery charger.
the flat 4 pin dose have turn (R & L) brake and running lights.
oh and ground!

my lightbar wouldnt work until i put the fuse and relay in. I know the flat 4 pin has blinkers, but they still dont work until you put in the fuse. however im pretty sure he wasnt talking about the flat 4 pin, but rather only 4 of the 7 pins working without the fuse and relay.

Sorry SultanGris, totally missed the new reply header, it was your comment I was referring to. I had weird light issues until the relay and fuse were installed as well. Have to agree I think that may be the problem.

On my truck, I had to install both to get the seven pin connector working properly. I have seen other threads in regards to this elsewhere on the site, I will have to look them up again.

the 4 pin is tied it to the 7 pin in the factory plug mine worked with out the fuses or relay installed (stop turn and running) something ant right if you have to install those (fuse / relay) to get it to work!

buy adding the fuse and relay on the 7 pin you get reverse lights, electric brakes and 12 volt battery charger/ RV lighting all the rest on the 7 pin should still work same as the 4 pin with out the fuse or relays! is what i am trying to say

and damn this cell phone!

Anyone know why Ford doesn't install these by default, instead of putting them in a plastic bag in the glove compartment for the customer to install?

Last week I was going over the set of fuses in my 2011 F150, and there are several present for options I don't have on my truck.

I'd imagine your lightbar has reverse lights.

Nope. I had the same issue. Factory tow package, brake controller, 7pin, etc. Without the fuse/relay the trailer electric brakes DID work fine along with brake and signal lights. Trailer running lights did NOT work, and I never checked charging (always relied on the battery being charged from shore power).

With the fuse/relay running lights now work. Seriously it's like 2 minutes to just put the fuse and relay in. I'm not sure why ford leaves these out in the first place.
