trailer brake assist instructions
i was reading the instructions on adjusting the trailer brakes and this seems like a real scientific method to adjust them...
6. If the trailer wheels lock up (indicated by squealing tires), reduce the
GAIN setting; if the trailer wheels turn freely, increase the GAIN setting.
Repeat Steps 5 and 6 until the GAIN setting is at a point just below
trailer wheel lock-up. If towing a heavier trailer, trailer wheel lock-up
may not be attainable even with the maximum GAIN setting of 10.

Retired and loving it!
It may not be the most scientific method ever devised, but trailer brakes vary so much from trailer to trailer, that IS the way to adjust them.
The only thing that I see missing is that you should be stopping each time when adjusting the brakes. Increase the gain on your dash until the trailer brakes lock up WHEN stopping, then back off one number.
We traded in one TT where I had the gain at 7....drove off with the new trailer and....you guessed it....lock up city on the new one. Had to go down to 4.5 before they would continue to roll as I applied the brakes.
