Trading 2012 FX4 for 2010 RAPTOR?!

+1 To Warsurfer.
Don't leave thousands on the table by trading your vehicle in. It's more work to sell a vehicle privately but you could get a few more thousand by doing it. Think of it this way... If someone offered to pay you 3k for a few weeks worth of work off & on, wouldn't you take that side job?
While your truck is out on the market, shop around for raptors with all the specs you want.
Also +1 to AJ.
You're talking about spending 8-10k of additional cash to get into the Raptor. Think of how far that kind of money would go to customizing your own ride? Then you get the engine you want (5.0) and the pride of a one-of-a-kind FX4.

My .02:
You could 'convert' your Fx4 for less than half the cost of the trade. You won't have the electronic goodies but for most folks that isn't an issue.
You could also sell your truck outright (which would net more than 22k) and then hunt for a better deal. Lots of guys on the Raptor forum are selling their gen 1s to get a gen 2.
I will say that all the 5.4 Raptor guys love their trucks and I have yet to see one with engine issues. Play hardball, see if they will come down on theirs and go up on yours.

I love raptors and I have been looking for one for awhile. I spend an unreasonable amount of time looking at ones for sale. They are the coolest truck Ford has ever made and I see one in my future down the line.
That being said, I think its a bit illogical to trade your truck and pick up significantly more debt just to have a truck that's 2 years older and with more miles. Yes Raptors are cool, but having more money or a cooler $30k truck is even cooler.
I say either wait till the prices come down (hopefully the release of the 2017 Raptor will flood the market with more used ones) and get a nicer, newer one with the 6.2; or look into a similar truck to what you have now, but with better equipment.
$30k goes a long way in something other than a Raptor.
