Traction Control override w/pics
Shortly after joining this forum I ran across muiltiple threads about how people liked/disliked the traction control on their truck. I dont want to get into a debate about how/when t/c should be used or anything like that. This is just to help some people who dont like the controls. I like to have the t/c on when I'm on the highway but I do not want it on in 4wd. Others have mentioned they added a toggle switch to turn it on and off so I did a quick install of my own except I used a 30 amp relay. Its fairly simple and I have a toggle switch in my cab to turn it on and off. I started by pulling fuse #36 and ran two wires from the pronges to my relay. On pole 30 of the relay I put the fused hot side in the fuse 36 and and on pole 87 I put the other prong in the fuse 36 to complete the circuit. Pole 85 is a ground and 86 is for the switch in the cable. I found an open place in the fuse box to run power to my switch so the relay would function as the rest of the fuse box. After getting everything wired it worked exactly like I wanted it to. You will notice that when you turn the switch off, the abs and t/c light will not come on until t/c or the abs system tries to work.

You only need to disconnect fuse 36. I read on another thread that the fx4 needs fuse 47 pulled. 36 worked for me tho, plus it's only 30 amps so the relay was easy to find. I cleaned the wires up as soon as I finished this thread, I just wanted some pics first haha

So we recently had a snow here and I thought I would play around with 2wd, 4wd and TC.
Here is what I found on my 2010 Lariat SCREW.
TC would kick in in 2WD after a little spin, I was actually surprised how much it did spin before it engaged. It seems to kick in faster on damp pavement when you floor it.
In 4wd I don't have TC at all, I could nail is it 4wd and the tires would spin....
So since there is a switch on the dash to disable TC what does this mod do?
