TPMS Question
Am getting ready to buy new tires and had a question. My 2011 Lariat has 46K miles, just wondering if it would be wise to put in new sensors when I get the tires. Not sure how long the batteries last. Also, At what pressure do the sensors activate the alarm. Thanks in advance for any help
No, you will be fine to reuse them. They're designed to last pretty much the lifetime of the vehicle.
I would, however, recommend changing the valve stem portion of them (they just unscrew), since the rubber does crack over time and causes leaks. Ford dealers and tire shops will have them in stock.
Depends on the vehicle as to what pressure they're programmed to. Your truck should be about 35psi. It will stay on the label in your drivers door frame.

Definitely change the valve stem every time the tire comes off the wheel.
The TPMS light will go off when your air pressure is 25% below the preset air pressure (35psi stock) so at about 26-27psi. If you ever upgrade to bigger tires that require more air pressure you can change the base air pressure that your computer will look for.

I can never figure out why people spend $40-$50k on a truck then skimp on tpms sensors.

I also would like to know how to change the pressure in computer so that I can not have to worry bout the pressure I have in my tires. Also when I drove for a while down the highway I got a tire pressure sensor fault?? Any ideas on this and what to do?
