Default TPMS and Fender Flare Question

Two questions in one here:

1.) I should be picking up a set of used wheels/tires with no TPMS sensors. Where is everyone getting them from? Google search reveals a lot of choices, but I'd prefer to run something others have good experiences with.

2.) I saw a post in my searches that 2009-2014 flares work on 2004-2008 trucks... I assume that means 2004-2008 flares will work on a 2012? I want to pick up some OEM ones however there are no 2009-2014s available around me, yet there are lots of 2004-2008s.

Thanks in advance!

For the TPMS - I just bought some off of RockAuto - they had the best prices across the board. The Motorcraft one's we're $45/each but I bought the Schrader brand ones for $35/each. Schrader is the OEM provider for the factory TPMS sensors, so I went with them. If you are programming the sensors yourself there is also a programming tool that is $30 that allows you to program new sensors to your truck.

As for the fender flares - I believe the older ones fit, but I'm not 100% on that. The biggest issue is if you are looking for painted ones, none of the 04-08 colors we're used on 09-14 trucks, so unless it's just the black plastic ones, there isn't much overlap. Also - the OEM flares require that your truck already had flares and the holes for them to mount are already on the fenders. If not, you have to go aftermarket.

Going to piggyback off this thread so as to not do a double post, i have a similar question about the TPMS. If i have the stock sensors from the rims that came on the truck, is there any way to get them to work on my new rims and tires? Thanks a bunch

Flares are the same. The biggest difference I made when I had mine was losing the stupid textured grey flares and getting the factory painted ones. I had to paint them to match but no biggie. Looked a million times better.

Sure, you have them removed from the original rims and installed on the new ones.

FWIW, when I needed just one, I bought a supposedly new OEM sensor from Ebay for $10. It's working so far, haven't had a single blip.

I got OEM TPMS sensors from eBay over 4 years ago. $100.

Still work fine.

I will have to look into that brand, and the tool.

I don't believe there will be any silver flares, however I am ok prepping and painting a set to match my truck. I read on this site that you can mount them from the bottom up without drilling holes into the side of the fender (there will be holes in the bottoms of the wheel arch for mounting though). I will research this a bit more as I don't want to drill into the side of the fender/bed.

If you're going to spend the full price, here's how to not worry about whether it's OEM: https://www.tascaparts.com/auto-part...ber=bb5z1a189a
