Jeez... You are pushing, if not over the rated limits. Spend the $200 on the WD hitch or not...

i went ahead and ordered the curt 17301 WD hitch and the ride rite bags ... figure peace of mind and an easier time on the road = a more fun trip with hopefully no bad incidents along the way! now hopefully they get here in time for my trip....

You have no clue what happened to make those assumptions!

I have seen properly set up rigs within limits in the same position due to wind gusts.

Good rule of thumb; use a WDH when towing anything over 5k. It really helps reduce tongue weight and back end sag. Think of it like how you lift a wheel barrow. The arms lift up from the back to distribute the weight better. Hence the name. You will also have better control.
