Default Towing question

I have a 2012 f150 with the 5.0 liter engine and 3.55 gears. We are planning on towing an ultralight travel trailer. It is light enough to pull safely, but what about an extra tranny cooler? Does this truck need one pulling a 6000 lb travel trailer? Those that pull travel trailers, did you go with an extra cooler or is it fine stock? Thanks.

Myself, I'd have a tranny cooler in there.

Agree with Magblue10..... if you have the Tow Package you should already have the tranny cooler.

I have a 2012 Screw 4x4 5.0 w/3.55's as well. I am pulling a 30' Jayco TT at 7500#. As long as you have the towing package, you have the trans cooler. You'll be fine. You will see some RPMs going up hills.

I watch the trans temp on the display while I am towing. Even going up hills, it's never gotten warmer than 210 degrees, and only momentarily. Usually it hangs around 190-200 degrees.

Ok. Thanks. I just wasn't sure if i should try to add a another or bigger one, or if the stock one was sufficient. Thanks for the replies!

One thing the watch is your payload. I looked at an 5.0 FX4 screw 6.5 box before I bought my 5.0 XLT Scab a d the payload was just under 1300# which means with proper tounge weight only leaves with under 700# remaining for people and "stuff" In the truck, dropping to a Scab got me up to 1598# payload.
