Default Towing Experience

So I just moved from TX to MD. My truck is a 2012 scab, xlt, 4x4 with the 5.0 and 3.55's. I had just over 1,000 lbs loaded in the truck and towing a full trailer loaded with my 1986 mustang GT(3100lbs) with 400 lbs inside the whole way, 1,967miles. I averaged 15mpg. I'm super impressed with how the truck performed to include the engine braking and everyone seems to he shocked I got 15mpg the whole trip.

That is outstanding mpg for that load. Congrats!

Thanks! I've been pleased with the truck since day one. Far superior to my 2008 FX4, minus the lack of backup camera, lol. I was just wondering how the mpg compared to others towing similar loads.

I tried to find the happy spot which seemed to be 66-70 mph (GPS verified). It was a uhaul full trailer, not sure of the weight.

That's good mileage. I just towed with mine the first time yesterday, a tractor & trailer that weighed about 5000lbs. Not a big load, but through the smokey mtns. I averaged 12mpg. Then when it got flat, I got 14mpg. I was VERY impressed with the way my truck towed. I had a diesel before & I've been spoiled with towing. I'm very pleased with my F150!!!

Towing my 12' enclosed trailer with a 6'6" interior and the bull nose ( flat front) front end with a loaded weight of 3500lb I got 16.1 mpg average on a 200 mile trip at 65mph. The flat front end has terrible wind resistance.
This was in my 2011 FX4 EB with 3.73. I'm running the 5* 87 perf/tow.
