Towing a Boat
#2
I Pull a 26' Regal with my Eco Screw - The Boat, tailer and gear it's probably around 7500+lbs. Live in Washington state and there's no problem pulling the boat over any of the local mountain passes and keeping with the speed limit. Seems like there is always plenty of reserve power. On the other hand when I had my F250LD with a 5.4, it was gutless in comparison and pulling the boat woud slow me down to 30-35mpg going over bigger mountain passes. But with the Ecoboost, 60mph is never a problem.

Don't miss the old F250LD at all with the 5.4. The 30-35 was basically floored in second gear while trying to keep the RPMs at least 500 under redline. Don't even want to think about the mileage for that truck - hated towing with it. But, I'll have to say that while the Ecoboost pulls the boat over the local passes while easily staying at the speed limit, the mileage drops below 10mpg while going up the steeper sections of the pass and you can certainly hear the turbo's doing their job. Just glad I don't don't tow everyday.

5,500 lbs. with no problems.
There was a guy in my Baja club many years back that pulled his 38', 12,000 lb. boat with a standard cab Chevy, with no problems, back and forth to Florida on occasion.
I wouldn't have the ***** to try THAT, personally...but it goes to show what a properly equipped pickup CAN do.

6k lb boat on double axle trailer. Screw 4wd Eco and have pulled it 700 miles.... Between 10-13 mpg depending on wind and speed on hwy. 75 mph is no problem and hardly ever shifts down. My 5.4 with 3.73 axles shifted down a lot.
