its very rare to see someone with a proper hitch and a trailer riding level behind the vehicle

do people not realize they make hitches in all different heights?

i think 95% of people who own trailers just buy the standard -2" drop, pop a ball on it and go. whole trailer tilted up in the front swaying back and fourth on the highway

get the right hitch for the trailer. every trailer is different

the problem i see with the multi-ball hitches... how is one height hitch supposed to work on all those different trailers? it doesnt make any sense. you might use the 2" for a little 5x10 cargo trailer that needs a bunch of drop, then use the 2 5/16 on a dump trailer that needs no drop.
+1
I've got 4 different drops here at home.

Not if you need a drop or raise hitch...but they are handy in a pinch or if yourtrailer happens to be just at the right height.

I've recently been looking at an adjustable hitch / multi-ball solution for my new F150. I currently have several steel draw bars with different drop and ball size configurations and I wanted to replace them with one single hitch. As someone has already mentioned, there is the B&W Tow and Stow which seems like a very nice unit.

This time around I wanted to get an aluminum hitch and I looked at both the Rapid Hitch and the Diversi-Tech aluminum hitches. The versions I was looking at all supported up to 10,000 pounds and 1,500 pound tongue weight. Each manufacturer makes several versions, locking or non-locking, different raises/drops, ball combinations, steel / stainless *****, etc. The only negative feedback I've found for either hitch were a couple comments about the Rapid Hitch developing some slop over time but of course I can't say for sure if that's a valid issue or not.
For my purposes, I ended up ordering the Diversi-Tech self locking unit with a 2" and a 2 5/16" ball combination in a 6" drop configuration. Of course these units are fairly pricey and you could order several steel draw bars for the price of these units but I was willing to pay for the convenience of having one hitch that would meet all of my needs. I ordered mine from etrailer.com but of course there are many places you can order them from. Below is a link to the unit I purchased.
