Default Towing 8,800 pounds with the EB for the next 30 days.

We are taking off soon for a summer vacation towing our Denali 289RKS TT.

http://denali-rv.com/index.php?p=floorplans&model=289RK

Dog and cat going with us, and although the TT weighs 7,500 empty, we are going to carefully pack (hopefully) only another 1,200 pounds or so. We have the 3.73 Max Tow Scab.
I've towed this TT with the EB before, but on this trip we will be going to the Oregon coast and then the Redwoods in northern CA, then Crater Lake and then back through central Oregon.......last year, we did a 14,000 mile 100 day trip, so this year we are cutting back --- of course, $4.00 a gallon gas might have something to do with a shorter trip this year!!! I do plan on using premium fuel for this entire trip and to keep the speed at no more than 60 mph.
In our 2010 5.4, towing a TT for 250 miles was about all I could do after listening to that engine at nearly 4,000 rpm to climb hills. With the EB we can easily do nearly 400 miles in a day if we have to because the EB does the same work (quietly) at 2,900 rpm..........

Shouldn't phase it at all, I did Aspen down and up twice in the same week, then California. Only advice is when going down steep hills remember to alternate the independent brake controller and the truck brakes. When I went down 6% for 17 to 20 miles I just had to alternate the brakes to not over heat the truck brakes, also ensure when you are going back up that if it is really hot outside over 100 degrees turn off the A/C for short periods or steep grades so you don't over heat the engine.

Other than that enjoy the vacation!! Believe me you'll be impressed by the Eco!

Yeah, the EB is a remarkable towing engine on the level or uphill, but going downhill, there just isn't enough compression to slow any kind of load.....even the truck alone most of the time.

Im guessing what he means is you use the brake controler to use the trailer brakes alone to slow you down, then use the pedal to use the truck brakes and trailer brakes to do the job.

You won't tire out your eco - it's up to the task easy.

I hope you keep a mileage log and update us.

You may burn up trailer brakes like this.

I know the EB doesn't have the compression of a v8 but I love the tap the brakes to downshift built into mine.
