From the 2009 Ford RV and trailer towing guide:
2009 RC 4.6L 4x2 145" wheelbase (long bed) tow ratings
4.6L 2v engine and 3.55 axle = 5,300 pounds max trailer weight
4.6L 2v engine and 3.73 axle = 5,800
4.6L 3v engine and 3.31 axle = 8,000
4.6L 3v engine and 3.55 axle = 8,400
So if you have the standard 2v engine, you'll be overloaded and probably struggle up any hills on the road. From Houston to Florida on I-10 there are no hills to speak of, so you should be able to make it.
If you have the 3v engine, no sweat. 4x4s have similar tow ratings, so the same conclusion: With the 2v engine, struggle. With the 3v engine, no sweat.
