Default Tow Mirror Question

The Powerfold mirrors for the f150 are around $600 (The ones that have power extend, power fold, and no puddle lights). The Super Duty mirrors look exactly the same EXCEPT for having 4 bolts instead of the 3 on the F150 mirrors. The Super Duty mirrors are also easier to find and cheaper used. After looking at the sides of the mirrors online, it seems the 3 bolts on the F150 mirror line up with the Super Duty mirror, and the extra bolt is just kinda plopped on the Super Duty mirror. Can I just buy a set of Super Duty mirrors and saw off the extra bolt and throw them on the F150 with no problem? Has anyone done this before?

Thanks!

Try it and let us know. I would be interested. I am contemplating switching my manual tows for power tows myself.

Also, I wonder if the electrical connections are the same or different between the 150 and SD???

I think the base is a different size. Looks like the same shape, but super duty is taller and thinner, I believe. Also your price is off for a set of you are looking good for oem. I think they are $1600 for a set or just for one. I can't remember.

In a way, yes they'll fit. The cheapest I've seen factory max tow mirrors are $700 each.

A while back someone did try to match up a set and they looked terrible. The plastic molding isn't anywhere near close. Both mirrors do use a 16 pin connector, but I'm not sure if all the pin functions are placed the same.

Would be a cool mod. I wonder if the wiring harness connections are all the same though? Bolting them on might not be the hard part.

Bolting them on and making them look right is the hard part.

Just gonna throw this out there... but you could get some power fold tow mirrors from 1A that would fit for sure. <$500 for the pair too, compared to $700 per for OEM.
