Tow mirror caps..... Chrome or PTM
So I have this beautiful Ruby Red Metallic max-tow Screw with these HUGE black tow mirrors. Trying to decide between chrome caps, painted to match caps, or painting the whole mirror to match. What do you guys think will look the best?

After owning a 2011 Lariat with Chrome package for almost 3 years, I am tired of Chrome, my new truck is a FX4 with appearance package, I am loving the non chrome look, so my vote would be paint to match.

PTM caps without a doubt. Whole mirror PTM looks good, but only with black.
I've had great luck using Valspar plastic adhesion primer, and then color-matched paint and clear from automotivetouchup.com. However, for you, I'd want the caps sprayed professionally because metallics are more difficult to get exactly right (my truck is basic Oxford White). But for $40 and a Saturday of sanding, you could try the automotivetouchup route, and then go professional if it isn't good enough for you.

I like PTM. Although my attempt came out flat (matte finish) and already had a rock ding the paint. Called a local shop and they quoted me $70. I am going to get it done professionally. After I squirrel away the money without the wife finding out!

I have the Chrome Package on a Tuxedo Black truck, so for me, the chrome caps give it a finished look. But, I also swapped out the chrome grill surround for a PTM (while keeping original chrome insert) to reduce the appearance of front end mass. So, the chrome caps don't appear to be too much in my case. PTM for me just gets lost in the black plastic trim around the mirror. Depending on the amount of chrome already on the truck you may give it a finished look to tie in the other pieces of chrome, if present. If you don't have much chrome, then PTM may be the better choice.
