I'm with ya man. I use swivels as a regular part of rigging. I also untwist straps, chains and cable before lifts.

Can I hook a smittybilt D ring to the front tow eyes to put a recovery strap for pulling? I have a d ring hitch for the rear.

Yes, I always use d-rings on my front hooks. Always avoid straps with hooks

Harbor freight actually had some decent stuff.... If you're just looking for a chunk of steel with a hole or hook on it. Cheaper than I could find it on Amazon or any of the offroading shops. I don’t see it on their website now, but I did buy it about a year ago. Might be worth checking.

Harley is making my brain hurt. It’s difficult to argue with guys that hold shovels from falling over then claim to have NASA knowledge. From an engineering stress standpoint, a twist will incite additional stresses on the strap/chain solely from a torsional perspective. If 20 twists is bad, then a single twist is proportionally detrimental to the strength of the chain. It’s probably a negligible difference considering the overall tensile strength, but no use trying to present any factual numbers or anything. That would just be nonsense.
