Tow hooks (loops) are pretty much useless!

There you go, boys. Sorry they might be a little dark as it's parked in the garage today. As you can see, when viewed from a standing position, the loop barely protrudes past the opening in the bumper and is nearly impossible to pass the looped end of my nylon tow strap through.
I found some on e-bay that are for a Lincoln MKT that appear to have a much longer loop but they also appear to be sloping downward to the front whereas the OEM ones have the loop welded parallel to the mounting surface.

Mine seem to be lower. I can fit 2 fingers above it.

Mine are exactly like your picture. Can't even fit my finger above it. They are so useless that I just bought a tow ring to pull from the back. I wonder if there are different ways to mount the tow rings from the factory? I'll have to take a look after work. I'd like to adjust them for more room, if possible.

Hmm, a thought just occurred to me. I had no idea they had different versions when I bought mine. My truck did not come with them as it's a 2wd. I bought them and added the 4x4 valance panel for the opening.
I stood back and took a pic at a similar angle as your pic and they stick out pretty far as well.
