Anyone else have really touchy brakes for the first few stops after you first start the truck?

My son commented on that when he drove my truck. I never really noticed it, could be I got used to it. If you have adjustable pedals, try lowering them.

Yeah, my 2010 is still like that for the first few stops but I don't see it as a problem and I'm used to it now anyway - these brakes have pretty good stopping power.

It's caused by a small amount rust. Which forms on the rotors after sitting for a while. It goes away after stepping on the brakes a few times.

I would like to believe this but it happens EVERY time I start my truck after sitting for a few hours.
I'm more inclined to think its a brake fluid/bleeding issue?

I had a 1998 F150 and it had grabby brakes for the first couple of stops whenever it was parked overnight in raining or dampish weather. My 2011 ALWAYS squeaks the brakes the first time I use them after parking overnight. (and they grab a bit on the first stop)

I consider all of these to be minor issues... if that's the worst problem I have to deal with, I will be a very happy camper indeed!

If you had a bleeding issue in your hydraulic system you would have spongy brakes not grabby brakes. Dont know what the issue might be other than rust accumulating on your pads.

I still stand by my rust theory, especially if it's damp out. A small amount of rust forms very quickly on bare metal. Look at the rotors before you drive the truck, I bet there is some rust on them.

Looks like this has been an ongoing issue with F150s and Ford not doing anything about it.

You may want to report this at the link below and hopefully force Ford to fix the issue permanently

That article has nothing to do with touchy brakes.
