Girlfriend? Houses? Stupid much? I'm married, been married 4 years. We have been together 10 years and if I want a new truck, and I can afford to make payments, I BUY A NEW TRUCK! If she's your girlfriend and throwing fits about a new truck, its only going to get worse, MUCH WORSE!

What I didn't want was the inconvenience of having a new truck in the shop all the time. That's why my 2010 is gone. My 2012 was to replace my lemon 2010, I didn't need another troubled truck.
I think you will be fine as you should have the new intercooler.
My good friend just bought a 2013 FX4 Ecoboost that was built in October 2012, Thank God. He's been in the military overseas and didn't need hassles as soon as he got back with his either. He's been a GM loyalist and this is his first Ford. Wouldn't want that to be a sour experience.

People keep comparing these engines to the car engines they are like. The 3.5L Ecoboost comes in the Taurus and the Flex and soon to be in the Explorer. All are station wagon cars designed to look like trucks. The F150 3.5L Ecoboost engine is designed differently and has different components.
The 5.0L in the Mustang is designed differently than the F150 5.0L. The car makes more high end power where the truck makes more low end power. Engine components were changed to make this so.
So these engines can't be compared at all with their similar car counterparts. They are different.
What really surprised me is how Pro-5.0L this thread is as many have the same opinion and experience with their test drives or ownership.
Usually the Ecoboost people are bashing the 5.0L for a lack of power which isn't so which has started in the last few pages of this thread now.
If it weren't for the intercooler troubles of the Ecoboost, I really would had considered it. However Ford was really stupid by increasing it's price from $750 to $1550 ($1050 and loss of $500 5.0L rebate) especially with this issue getting more popular on rv and truck forums, and truck magazines. They should had made it a $500 option which would had made it much more enticing.
I really love my 5.0L mileage as it's better than my previous, much lighter, 2008 Sport Trac 4WD 4.6L 3 valve powered truck.
If I had a shorter commute and disposable income, I'd opted for the 6.2L but right now the 5.0L is a win-win situation.
An Ecboost with the new intercooler or the 5.0L are both win-win situations. It just depends more on what you want out of an engine and what you feel comfortable with.
It's definitely not a V6 vs V8 issue, it's more of a turbo vs none turbo issue, from what I feel and seen and read.

I am in the process of ordering a new F-150, I cant decide on what engine to get. Just wondering what others have and what they like about them. Have read alot and it seem like people like both. Usually drive around 90 km/h. Please let me know what everyone thinks. Thanks.

If you have reliability fears or just on a budget go with the 5.0 but in all other cases the Eco is the better engine in a truck. As far as the reliability fears... Ford has put all its eggs in one basket with these new eco engines... Do you really think they're going to sit back and watch them fail? Yeah right.

Well, if they were planning on getting married in the next 1-4 years then she was making a sensible decision since having a vehicle loan drops how much of a house you can get approved for by A LOT for the next 5 years or however long the note is for even if he can afford both. My cousin was in the same situation but unfortunately didn't listen to my reason and bought a new vehicle. Even with enough income to afford both payments and a high 700 credit score, every bank told him he had to much out and either had to wait until his vehicle or other debts are paid off or settle for less of a house loan. It is best to buy a vehicle after you buy a house in that situation if they were planning on getting married soon. It would be stupid to settle for less of a house that you might end up spending the rest of your life in just for a vehicle you might have for the next 5-10 years. Now if he was not getting married soon or buying a house in the next 1-4 years, then F' it and buy the damn truck.
Also, would add to not extend oneself in debt just to be in a new truck. I purchase a new truck every 10-11 years but wait until I can pay cash. I have a separate account for new vehicles that I make deposits to. However much is in there when a new vehicle is needed, that is how much I can spend. Your first 8-9 years you have to drive something reasonable, but after that, you can afford something nicer than what you could if you had to also pay interest.

Smart. And/or rearrange the order. Buy the house, then the truck. Homeowners look better for credit than renters....
