Default tonneau covers

I recently bought a 2009 lariat and want to instal a tonneau. I don't like the inflexibility of hinged fiberglass ones, and the roll up ones just seem cheap. I think I have decided on the Bak bakflip g2 tonneau... does anybody have any experience with these, or recommend any alternatives? Here is a link about the bakflip i found on youtube

I bought the HD backflip and have a great source where you can save some money (least expensive anywhere)... I just PM'd you the contact info. I haven't installed mine yet, but a friend has and it looks and works great. I think it is the best choice...it is actually the same one the factory uses and rebadges except you can get it for a LOT less money. I'll post some pictures this weekend when I have time to install it.

Apparently my PM replies aren't going through so here is the lowdown: The best source I found for Bakflip covers is Dinamite truck bed systems
https://www.tonneaucoversfortrucks.com/ They are the factory outlet for Bakflip and listed on the Bakflip website as a prefered supplier http://www.bakliner.com/bakflip/bakf...companies.html

Call the number on the dinamite website and ask for Morrie, he's the owner. Tell him Vince from the F150 Forum referred you and you want the Forum price and to include free shipping! Take this price and shop around...you won't find better. I did a ton of homework on this because, well, I'm cheap and hate to overpay for anything!

I installed the g2 bakflip on mine I love it. Easy to install and easy to use plus when you lock the tailgate the cover is locked. and I like the low profile.nice cover.

Default tonneau choices

I personally like the Extang Trifecta - easy on & off . You may be lucky to find the generic Freedom Trifold which is also made by Extang. Basically same tonneau just does not have the longer warranty.

I second the Extang Trifecta. I like the bakflip covers, but I didn't want to spend that much on a cover. For my budget and my applications, the Trifecta was the best bet. Takes 5 minutes (literally) to install, and less than that to remove in case you want to utilize the whole bed for big projects. Light enough to carry with one hand, easy to store too. Best all around value for me. Good luck, and I'm sure you'll be very happy with whatever you choose!

I got mine from www.truckaddons.com and it was like $365 shipped (free shipping) and included one of those tailgate seal things (which I haven't installed yet).

The advantage of the Bakflip is not just the flush look. It doesn't interfere with use of the bedrails so you can use it with racks, tiedowns, etc. Also, it doesn't have to be removed in order to use the entire bed. I couldn't find anything else that had these features so it was worth the extra $ for me. I just didn't want to pay the $1400 or whatever my local "stealer" wanted.

I looked at the Bakflip site but I can't see a good explanation for the cost difference in the HD. Is one made of plastic and one metal?

The hd I believe is metal, The G2 is a hard plastic but will hold up to 200 lb.

Yes, the G2 has plastic and the HD has aluminum panels. They've coated the aluminum with rubber so there isn't any vibration noise like other types out there. I was going to get the G2, but considering the snow/ice loads around my neck of the woods and the minimal price difference (Morrie's discount is much greater for HD than G2) I went with the aluminum HD . I haven't ever seen the plastic version in person so I can't comment.
