Flat cakes, are you looking to just swap mufflers out or the whole system?

I'm looking for a whole system swap. What do you recommend?

I have a solo mr400 system as well. I'd like to do a muffler swap and try that. I'm the city I love it, but towing or highway it's way too much volume.

One2nine, I swapped out their stock MR400 "muffler" for their Storm Series STM 40 25" long muffler. Jeff at Solo sent me it no charge as I complained that the system had tons of drone, despite what his advertising claimed. It quieted it down a little, (less NASCAR sounding on full throttle!)and the truck sounds really good, but the mind numbing drone at 2000RPM is still present. And, after about 6 months with the new muffler, I noticed both welds on the necks had cracked all around, and I emailed Jeff again, and he sent me another muffler under warranty. It's too bad the system never satisfied me, because the customer service I received was second to none. Jeff , the owner, was excellent.

So if you're trying to just do a muffler swap, you'll be limited to the one I already have , or some other manufacturer with a 4-4 in/out. If only there was room for the resonator, I think I could dial this system in, but no room!
This is why I'm looking for a smaller diameter system with the resonator, more room to play around with fine tuning, if I even need to. I've decided to give the Magnaflow 15461 a try as I've heard nothing but great reviews, and the price is acceptable.
Let me know if you've got any more questions!

Have you had the chance to try the magnaflow system yet? I was wondering if it was drone free.

Looking for options on my new to me 2010 with the 5.4.

The factory exhaust drown is horrible and the different pitches at the varying rpms especially at WOT leave much to be desired. I'm one that loves the V8 drone and have been missing it for the last 5 years when I traded my Charger SRT8 for my first of several twin turbo 3.5 Ford engines.

I know the 5.4 isn't the best sounding engine but any recommendations and sound clips anyone can point me to for a good system that adds the V8 rumble with consistent even deaper sounds at the varying rpms, i.e. Idle, daily driving and WOT.

Wouldn't want a lose in power since this engine is already a power downgrade from what I'm used to.

thanks

I had the same muffler that comes with the Magnaflow kit installed on my truck and it had some mild drone but over time i still got sick of it and switched to the Corsa DB system. If you keep your stock resonator you should be fine but the sound/tone sucks.

I'm going to give the aeroturbine resonated muffler a shot. Supposed to cancel cab drone and keep sound. For close to $100 why not. I love the sound of the mr400, but just hate the drone, especially towing. It's marketed more for the diesel world with 4" plus exhausts, but worth a try.

Another vote here for Borla S-Type. Great sound on the 5.0. I had some peeling on one of the tips after 1 year. I asked them about sending a new tip since it comes with a lifetime warranty. I figured I'd just pay someone to weld a new tip in place and they sent two brand new pipes instead. I just bolted the new ones to the muffler and shipped the old ones back. No questions asked. Not even a dime for shipping.

Now that's good to know if I ever have a problem. None so far, but mine don't get much salt on them, even though I live in the rustbelt.
I thought those tips were polished?
