I'm running 20x9 Fuel Octane's with an offset of +1. Nitto Trail Grappler MT 305/55-20. I have a 2" Hell Bent Steel leveling kit. I do have a lil rub at full crank and only notice it if I'm in reverse. I may have to trim a bit, haven't decided.

So here we are 09 fx4 2.5" Level in front 3" block in rear
Tires 35x12.5x17 MTR Kevlar
Rims V-Tec 17x8.5 0 offset 4.75" Backspacing
There was a little rubbing in the front when at full lock but nothing that about 20 min of work couldent fix.
What ya think?

Hi, i'm new to the forum. I purchased a new silver 2010 FX4 F150 supercab last Thursday. On Friday I installed a Zone 2" levelling kit and 305/65-18 BFG All Terrains on the stock 18" wheels. In my opinion, this is a perfect combination. The truck sits perfectly level, and the tires do not rub at full lock.

Default Stock 20" wheels

Tried putting 33/12.50/20 Toyo MT's on my 2010 stock 20" wheels and it didn't turn out to good. The tires siping came really close to the upper ball joint and when we turned the wheel to full lock the tires were around 1/2" from rubbing the the front sway bar. So I had them remove the tires from the front and reinstall the stock tires. I have the 1.5" AS leveling kit installed. So I guess I will have to get some aftermarket wheels if I want to run 33" Mud tires on my truck.

You should determine your backspacing and width on your 20' rims and do some math. For example my stock backspacing was 5.5' on a 17 X 7.5 rim. My stock tires didn't stick out the fenders, they were probably about .5' inside the fender well. When I increased my rim to 17 X 9 X 4.75 backspacing it added 9 - 7.5 = 1.5 inches of potential tire stick out, which was reduced by backspacing. Stock backspacing of 5.5 less aftermarket rim backspacing of 4.75 = .75.

So the net increase in tire stick out would be 1.5 (potential) less .75 (reduced backspacing) = .75'. Then you should determine how much your tire is going to extend out past your rim. On my 9' wide rim my tire is about 11.25 wide. 11.25 - 9 wide rim = 2.25' of tire extending beyond the rim / 2 = 1.125 of tire extending beyond both the inner and outer rim. In this case we are only concerned with 1.125' at the outer rim because we are trying to figure out how much stick out there will be (not whether the inner rim and tire will clear suspension components). 1.125' outer tire stick out past the rim + .75 net increase in rim stick out gives you 1.875 of overall tire stick out. In real life I would say mine ended up a little less than 1.875.

It looks like a lot of work, and its not an exact science, but it should give you a ballpark idea of how different wheel/tire combos will end up on the truck. I too didn't want massive tire stick out. This photo shows where it ended up.
Oh geez, now I know why people get confused, I went the wrong direction for backspacing. Ignore this part-

"it added 9 - 7.5 = 1.5 inches of potential tire stick out, which was reduced by backspacing. Stock backspacing of 5.5 less aftermarket rim backspacing of 4.75 = .75."

This should read-

"it added 9 - 7.5 = 1.5 inches of potential tire stick out, which was THEN FURTHER INCREASED by backspacing. Stock backspacing of 5.5 less aftermarket rim backspacing of 4.75 = .75 INCREASE in tire stick out"

And of course that simple mistake makes all the other measurements thereafter incorrect. So the total increase from stock tire stick out would be 1.5 + .75 = 2.25, not 1.5 -.75 = .75 as I stated above. Then you would compute for actual tire width increases, which I am going to skip to avoid further confusion ... Big difference, my apologies.

I was perplexed about those 33 X 12.50 mud tires not fitting on a 4wd, but found a possible reason why. Your right, its likely the 20' OEM rims. The OEM rims should be 20 X 9 with +44 mm offset. The offset comes out to 6.73 inch backspacing, according to the calculator below-

http://www.autolounge.net/calculators/tirespacing.html

If the stock 20' rim is already pulled in that close to the front suspension components, that doesn't leave a lot of room for the increased tire siping from mud tires. Bummer. Very good information though for those with stock 20's looking to go to a bigger tire.
