Default Tire Question

OK Guys,

I have done a search already and did not find my answer...

I have an 09 FX4 with the 18" wheels, I was wondering if I would be able to fit the 285/65/18 Nitto Terra's without a level? On Nitto's site it says they are only a half of an in taller then the stock 275/65/18s that came on the truck...

What do you think???

Thanks

Greg

What do you mean? So the 285 65 18s would fit fine on the truck without a level?

That 1/2" comes out to be 1/4" once on the truck. I doubt the clearances are such that a quarter inch would make any difference. They should work fine without a lift kit.

I am trying to figure this very thing out with some Falkin WildPeaks. Don't want to spend the cash unless I know it will work.

Yes, they will be fine, I have a 2004 FX4 and have had LT 285 65 R18 BFG All Terrains and now have the same size Nitto Trail Grappler's and both run fine turn to turn, on & off road. All stock suspension and rims/wheels.

ya i guess I was more worried about the tire being a little bit wider, I know its only from a 275 to a 285 but I just wanted to double check before I spent the money

Do you guys see any performance changes running the 285 tire? They add weight which concerns me a bit. Mostly worried about a big drop in mpg and downshifts. Thanks.
