Yes I have googled and advanced searched the forum threads but hopefully there is some kind guru out there to answer my quandry.
Current vehicle: 2010 scab 5.4 XLT, RWD on 265 / 60 R18 stock rims and tires.
Intended vehicle: 2012 screw 3.5 eco, FX4 on 275 / 55 R20 stock rims and tires (from what I can find out).
Can I buy dedicated snow rims and tires at the 275 / 55 R20 sizing to get me through to order & delivery date for use on the XLT and then transfer to the FX4 without any major issues?
Thanks in advance to the expert responses.

If you need to do snows - you should look for tires that would be the same circumference as your new trucks 20" but on a 16 or 17 - maybe 18" wheel... I think you'll find more choices and better prices.
The tires on your new truck are bigger than what is on your current truck now, not sure how that will effect your current truck.

So from a quick check they appear to be the 6 lug pattern (unless I can't count) on the XLT, hopefully the new FX4 are the same (not the 7 lug). Any combo on the 2010FX4 which would change this, like the 4.10 gear ratio.
Interested in the KMC XD Series Crank rims with Blizzak DM-V1 (+TPMS) which look to be about $2,000 all in here in CT from TireRack.
Any major reason why folks would reccomend something different in this scenario?

Look at TireRack.com. You can get wheels with tires and TPMS, and then you won't have to rip the tires off twice a year. I swap wheels on my truck and my wife's car based on the forecast. Once winter is here for sure, I swap wheels and swap them back at the end of the season. No scheduling appointments and no $40-50 charge twice a year or damaged tires.

We seem to have a lot of experts in this forum...
I think the questions have been answered already... to recap:
1) bolt pattern the same?
2) no changes to tpms system for 2012? assuming you'll do new sensors (edit: re-read and saw that you'll be doing sensors - any way to confirm that they'll be the same?)
3) obviously getting a new set of tires and wheels here, not just tires
You may find you have better selection with a minus sized tire, as previously mentioned.
I have the stock 20's for summer and run a set of FX2 18" wheels in the winter w/ blizzaks. I find that the extra tire sidewall (more rubber, less wheel) helps with potholes and makes the ride softer. I don't remember if the pricing was much different between the two sizes... I seem to recall that they were similar. Tire rack has all the sizing figured out... if you're curious, you can play with sizing with this tool:

For some reason my java plugin isn't happy... that's the link to their old calculator - still works though.
If you stick with stock sizing (stock 20's vs. stock 18's), I think you'll find that the two are quite similar in circumference (within a percent or two, if I remember correctly).
Good luck.
