Tire Aspect Ratio - My tires look tiny!
Hey all,
My name is Bill, and I just joined the forum a few days ago. My truck is a black 2013 F-150 (supercrew, Ecoboost, FX2).
Anyways, I am posting because I need new tires! Truck just hit 63k miles. The tires on my truck now are Michelin LTX A/S P265/60R18. These are the tires that came on the truck from the dealership. My only complaint about these tires is that I think my tires/wheels look tiny, when looking at my truck from a distance. I am interested in possibly getting new tires with a larger aspect ratio: instead of 60, maybe 70? can I go even larger? will there be any adverse effects on my truck? Any recommendations on specific tires?
Thanks in advance,
Bill

any tire, but a 275-70-18 would be a good filling meaty choice!

Mine is a 2011 Screw 4x4 5.0 and I did a 2 1/2" front and 1 1/2" rear level kit (Supreme Suspensions) along with a set of 195/70R/18 Nitto Terra Grapplers on stock XLT chrome wheels. No trimming necessary and never a rub. 60K miles later and I'm ready for a new set of Nittos. Going with the Ridge Grappler in the same size this time.

TO the first guy, what look are you going for? 4WD on a 2WD? larger rim (20") with low profile performance tires?

Definitely not interested in low profile performance tires. And I'm looking to keep my current rims (new rims is not in the budget!).
I like the current look of my truck, I just think my tires look small on my truck, when looking at it from a distance (especially the back tires). So I'd like to stick with all-weather radials (I do a lot of highway driving), but I am interested in a larger aspect ratio tire. I'm just not sure how big I can go.

Keep in mind that if you change the width, the height/measurement of the same aspect ratio will change.
As an example, 275/65/18 and 265/65/18. Same aspect ratio, but the 275 tire will be taller. The aspect ratio is a measurement of percentage of the width of the tire.
Many people don't seem to understand that part, only reason I say anything.

Your tire must be the stock size for a 2wd? They do look small in the wheel opening. One of the most popular stock sizes on a 4WD is 275-65-18. Those would fit on your wheel no problem. Here's a site where you can plug in the numbers and compare sizing.

That would throw your speedo off a bit, but since it's an optional size, I think the dealer can adjust that?
