The guy cut the tint around the "F-150 dot matrix pattern" on the windshield. The tint was peeling up from the bottom already. This guy did my front windows last year and they came out great, so I was pretty surprised. I ask him why he cut it like that and he said he can not tint over that writing on the windshield. I explained to and showed him it is printed inbetween the glass and not on the inside, the glass is completely smooth. He still said he wouldnt do it and that the rear view mirror would interfere. WTF??? So I got pretty ****ty with him, he didnt appreciate it. I asked him to remove it and im not paying for it. He ripped it off, then got even more mad when I asked him to clean the glue off. So, in the end, he's pissed, im pissed, but atleast I have a clean windshield. I found another tint shop and explained in great detail what I want done and he assurred me it would not be an issue.
That sucks!

I guess he doesn't know you can take off the mirror and mount? Lol

Many people who tint windows on vehicles are scared to pull the rear view in our trucks because there is a high risk of pulling a hunk of the windshield along with the mirror.

There is a tool to assist in the removal but still requires some skill to pull it off. This makes the unskilled do jobs like this and expected you to pay for it. I've heard of people who tint make the customer take their vehicle to ford to have the rear view removed prior to having a brow installed. It's that easy to break a windshield pulling off your rearview.

Looked at my brothers truck (2014 F250) today that he just had the windows tinted. He matched the front to the back and his windshield brow is straight across on the bottom. I asked if he asked them to do it that way and he said the place (same place I am going) gets precut strips in from the tint film company and that is what they had for his truck.

I also talked to a friend today who has a 2008 F250 and his brow is curved on the bottom and it was done at the same place as my brothers truck.

I guess it will just be luck of the draw on whether the brow is straight or curved.

Yeah it varies on who installs it. I've seen both the straight and curved version. Most I've seen are straight and 6" or 8" depending on what you want.

Most places charge $25 in my area for it and takes 10 minutes. I can't believe how big of a hassle it was for the guy to do it on your truck. Good thing you had him take it off before it was a few weeks later and you noticed how crappy it was.

I stopped messing with the brow 4 years ago and just get the whole windshield completely tinted. The amount of sun it blocks when driving and how cool it keeps it inside of the cab is more than worth it. I'll never buy another car or truck without having the windshield tinted.

I wish Virginians didn't have to have an inspection sticker on windshield or I would do that also!

Holy crap you guys get some good deals on tint. Where i live it cost :
$180 for front side windows max 15%
$80 for brow
$300 for the back 3 windows

I got a bit of a deal as i bring them a crap load of vehicles but im still into mine for $400 worth of tint. I got them to add 5% on the back 3 windows over the factory tint to black it out for the kids. 15% on front side windows. And 5% brow is getting done today.

The wifes fiesta was quoted at $600 for all windows except the windshield. I got it for cash price of $400. I love paying cash. Haha.

Ouch, that's expense. Where I am getting mine done, they charge $50 for two side windows and $35 for a brow.

I have a guy here in Vegas who has been tinting for 20 years. He did the fronts at 15% and put 15% over the factory privacy glass in the rear to make it match 5%. He put a 5% brow below the AS1 with a curved bottom (my preference) and vinyl wrapped my tail lights and 3rd brake light with a smoke transparent vinyl. 170 out the door with a lifetime warranty.

Yeah its a rip off here but the nearest place to go and get it done is 5 hours away. Its about half the price but by the time the wife goes shopping it ends up being more. The reason they say the fronts are so expensive is its illegal to have so they could get in trouble. Bull**it. They just see a way to make more money. Every vehicle ive owned for the past 10 years has had the fronts tinted, so will every vehicle i will ever own. So as much a it sucks to pay the bill i will keep doing it. Haha.

There are two shops that does tint here and both of them make you sign a paper saying that they will not be held responsible if you do get in trouble with the law and both places will go as dark as you want.
