Default Timing Chain

Scenario: I bought a truck a few weeks ago, 2013 F150 FX4 CrewCab 3.5 EcoBoost. Everything is fine with it, did some brake work and shifts a little hard when cold...nothing crazy. I have had this thing a total of maybe 3 weeks and the timing chain jumps time taking the engine with it. The guy before me had the timing chain changed in sept. by a dealer. I called that dealer and they said the chain and labor is covered by a warranty...but probably not an engine?! Well obviously we know when you have an interference engine and a timing chain jumps or fails its gonna damage the engine!? Should I call Ford and see what I can get out of them?

Second question, Would the work have to be done by the dealer? Because I dont wanna take it back to the place that may have installed it wrong in the first place, to install a whole engine!?

Love the truck and the boost...I don't want this to ruin my love so early! Any assistance for any of these issues is appreciated, Thank you.

I would certainly try to get them to warrantee that. I think in such scenarios, a lot of them try to split the engine cost with you.

I would call Ford directly and fight for it. A new motor is about 8k, way to much money. Chain should not have had issues if they installed it right.

if the chain fails and then that failure takes out the engine it should be covered as the timing chain is the casual part

Would the work have to be done at a ford dealer or could the shop it is at now preform the work?! The place it is now is the second place it has been towed, as the first didn't wanna mess with it after they "started" it. My insurance isn't going to cover any more towing I'm sure...

You'll have to check with them about their warranty.
