Is it time?
Statistically of course. However, new tech is definitely making new cars less reliable. Unfortunately we had to Lemon Law 2 vehicles in the last 4 years. A 2020 Hyundai Palisade back in June, after 8 trips to the dealer and out of service for more than 30 days. And a 2016 Corvette Z06 after a blown supercharger, then a blown motor, followed by numerous failed attempts to fix gremlins.
We replaced the Palisade with a 2020 BMW X7, CPO. 6 months and 12K miles on the odometer, so far so good.
We replaced the 2016 Z06 with a 2019 and 2 years, 17K miles it’s been flawless.
Gave our 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland to our son. Currently at 96K miles and only been to the dealer for new brakes at 50K miles.
My 2017 Toyota Avalon (work car) is at 94K miles and has had a ton of warranty and non-warranty work. So much for Toyota quality.
2002 Chevy Tahoe and 2002 Chrysler LHS both made it to 130K miles with VERY few issues.

im also getting a little bit of a new truck itch. currently 13 raptor scab with 65k. special order with no options, but ive got a few thousand bucks in mods, and I have it pretty much where I want it. id like a new truck someday, but I have to ask myself, what would I get that I would enjoy more than what Ive got? and its got enough little scratches and such that I don't lose my mind every time a new one appears. kinda hope I get 8 more years out of it
I wasn't asking for permission. Or really any other opinions. Don't read into it more than there is. I was just trying to start a conversation about replacing our 12th gen f150's. Because lets face it they are approaching or have exceeded a decade in age. If I'm not mistaken I specifically asked if anyone else was considering the same move. Not for reasons for or against trading up.
I guess i'm "the other half" in this setup; i just got into my nice new-to-me 12th gen
but there's nothing quite like a nice new, spec'd to order vehicle with all the shininess you get with it.
